Connected clues
All the criminals (or innocents) in a row or column form one unbroken run — and there is at least one.
All the criminals in Row 2 are connected.
"Connected" means touching orthogonally — directly left, right, above or below, never diagonally. A connected clue about a row says that its criminals form a single unbroken run with no innocent in the middle.
Following the game's "all" rule, a connected clue also guarantees at least one such person in that row or column.
How to read it
- If you have proven criminals in A2 and C2, and Row 2's criminals are connected, B2 must be a criminal too: a gap would break the run.
- If B2 is a proven innocent, the row's criminals all sit on one side of it.
How it combines with other clues
Pair it with a count. "Row 2 has exactly two criminals" plus "all the criminals in Row 2 are connected" means the two criminals sit side by side. If one end is proven, the run can only extend one way.
